La población estuvo constituida por 43 profesionales de enfermería que laboran en el área asistencial de la institución, el análisis estadístico se realizó con Microsoft Excel y codificación de la información.</p><p><strong>Resultados: </strong>Se evidenció que el mayor porcentaje de los profesionales de enfermería en cuanto a la edad está entre 20 y 40 años, sigue predominando el sexo femenino con un 77%, el tiempo de experiencia está entre 0 y 10 años con un 67%, el tiempo laborado en la institución es de 83% menos de uno y 5 años, y la forma de contratación en su mayor porcentaje es tercerizado, los factores que dificultan la aplicación del PAE fueron: el tiempo y sobrecarga laboral y los factores que posibilitan su aplicación fueron: el interés por brindar un cuidado integral y la plataforma de sistema de atención al paciente (SAP).</p><p><strong>Conclusiones: </strong>El PAE es de vital importancia para todos los profesionales de enfermería de la institución, sin embargo la sobrecarga laboral y las múltiples tareas asignadas al profesional opacan el quehacer disciplinar, aunque existe el deseo de brindar un cuidado con calidad.</p><p align="center"> <strong>Abstract</strong></p><p><strong>Objective: </strong>To describe the factors which help or hinder the implementation of the NCP by nursing professionals in a health facility during 2012.</p><p><strong>Materials and methods: </strong>Descriptive study in which analysis techniques of mixed type were used through instruments to collect socio- demographic, labor and opinion variables about NCP. The population consisted of 43 nurses working in the health care area of the institution. The statistical analysis was performed with Microsoft Excel.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>It was evident that the highest percentage of nurses in terms of age is between 20 and 40 years, females dominated with a 77%, experience time is between 0 and 10 years with a 67%, the time worked in the institution is 83% less than a year and 5 years, and the method of recruitment, in the highest percentage, is outsourced. The factors that hinder the implementation of the NCP were the time and work overload, and the factors that enable its application were the interest in providing comprehensive care and the system platform for patient care.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The NCP is vital to all nurses of the institution; however, work overload and the multiple tasks assigned to the professionals overshadow the work discipline, but there is a desire to provide quality care <strong>Key words: </strong>Nursing process, nursing care, nursing staff.
