About the Journal

Organisational Systems is a journal focused on cybernetics and complex systems theories and methodologies to support the design and development of organisational systems, including business, societies, governments, cooperatives, communities and not-for profit organisations.

It was created by the Metaphorum Research Group Cooperative as a new approach to academic journals, intended to be more inclusive, and supporting a new generation of authors to become skilled in publishing new ideas and practices in organisational systems.

Organizational Systems is a new academic journal dedicated to advancing the intellectual and practical programme initiated by Stafford Beer concerning the organisation, governance and viability of complex social systems. Bringing together cybernetics, systems theory and complexity sciences, the journal provides a forum for research on organisational, sociotechnical and socio-political systems. Its inaugural publication programme will be launched in connection with Metaphorum 2026 and the centenary of Stafford Beer.
