COMPARACION DEL CRECIMIENTO FOLIAR DE DOS VARIEDADES DE PAPA (Solanum tuberosum ssp andigena), EN EL ALTIPLANO DE PASTO

Abstract

Se trabajó con dos variedades de papa (Solanum tuberosum ssp andigena), una tardía y otra precoz. Se sembraron a una densidad de población de 20.833 plantas por hectárea.

El objetivo fue el de comparar el crecimiento foliar haciendo observaciones semanales a partir de la cuarta semana después de la siembra y hasta el final de los ciclos de vida correspondientes.

Se encontró que el área foliar mostraba gran variación entre las variedades de papa. El índice de área foliar fue superior a la unidad entre los 56 y los 63 días, y los máximos valores se alcanzaron entre los 91 y los 98 días después de la siembra.

El crecimiento total fue incrementándose a medida que disminuía la intensidad de crecimiento relativo y fue mayor para la variedad tardía.

ABSTRACT

Two varieties of potato (Solanum tuberosum ssp andigena) were used, one of the slow growth and the other one of the rapid growth. They were planted at a rate of 20.833 plants per hectare.

The objective was to compare leaf growth, with weekly observations from the fourth week after planting till the end of the life cycle of each variety.

It was found that leaf area showed a great variation among varieties. The leaf area index was greater than one from the 56th to the 63rd day,   and maximum figures were reached from the 91st to the 98th day after planting

Total growth was increasing with reduction of relative growth intensity and it was higher for the slow growth variety.
