PROPIEDADES FÍSICAS DE LOS SUELOS DEL VALLE DE SIBUNDOY – PUTUMAYO / PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE SOILS FROM SIBUNDOY VALLEY, PUTUMAYO, COLOMBIA

Abstract

En perfiles correspondientes a 13 series de suelos del Valle del Sibundoy, Intendencia del Putumayo, Colombia; se determi­naron el contenido de carbono orgánico y las siguientes propie­dades físicas: textura con contenidos de arenas, arcillas y limos; estabilidad de los agregados al agua, tomando como límites los diámetros 2,0 - 1,0 - 0,5 y 0,25 mm; límites plástico e inferior e índice de plasticidad; densidad aparente y de las partículas y po­rosidad total; máxima capacidad de retención, humedad equiva­lente, retención a 1/3 y 15 atmósferas y agua aprovechable.

Los aspectos más sobresalientes del estudio son: la capacidad de retención de humedad es elevada; el contenido de mate­ria orgánica es alto e incide en forma decisiva sobre las propie­dades físicas especialmente la capacidad de retención de hume­dad y la porosidad; el análisis de las partículas, por su tamaño tiene carácter de dudoso, debido a las dificultades que ofrece pa­ra la dispersión, principalmente en lo relacionado con las ar­cillas.

ABSTRACT

The Organic Carbon and the following physical properties from 13 profiles from Sibundoy Valley Soils, Putumayo Intendancy, Republic of Colombia, were determined; texture with sand, clay and loam contents; stability of aggregates in water, with an index reference of 2,0 - 1,0 - 0,5 and 0,25 mm; lower and plastic limits and plasticity index; bulk and particle densities and total porosity; maximum retention water capacity, moisture equivalent, moisture retention at 1/3 and atmospheres of pressure and avails bit water.

The main notorious aspects of this study are: the moisture retention capacity is high; the organic matter content is high which notoriously affects the physical properties, specially the moisture retention capacity and porosity; the size particle analysis doubtful, because of the difficulties encountered for the dis­persion, especially on that related to clays.
