About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Journal of Sociology, affiliated with the Department of Sociology in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Nariño, is part of the multidisciplinary field of the social sciences. Its objective is to contribute to the understanding of social phenomena, as well as to promote research, analysis, and academic debate in the field of sociology and related areas.
The journal accepts original and unpublished contributions on topics related to sociology, social sciences, community development, current affairs analysis, development planning, and interdisciplinary studies.
Frequency
The journal is published annually and is currently undergoing a process of editorial strengthening and consolidation since its reactivation in 2023.
Open Access Policy
The Journal of Sociology provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that offering free access to research contributes to the global exchange of scientific and academic knowledge.
The journal does not charge fees for the submission, processing, or publication of articles.
Readers' Rights
Readers have the right to access all articles published in the Journal of Sociology freely and at no cost, without any financial restrictions.
Copyright Statement
Authors retain the copyright to their articles and grant the Journal of Sociology of the University of Nariño the right of first publication.

Article Categories
Scientific and Technological Research Article
A document that presents original research results in detail and generally includes an introduction, methodology, results, and conclusions.
Reflection Article
A document that presents research findings from an analytical, interpretive, or critical perspective on a specific topic, drawing on original sources.
Review Article
A document resulting from research that analyzes, systematizes, and synthesizes published or unpublished research findings in a specific field of the social sciences. It is characterized by a rigorous literature review.
Reflection Papers
Short articles on specific topics of interest, which may or may not present research findings and generally contain a limited number of references.
Reviews
A document that analyzes and evaluates recent publications related to the journal’s disciplinary field.

Peer Review Process
All articles submitted to the Journal of Sociology of the University of Nariño are evaluated through a double-blind peer review system. Ethics and Best Practices Policy
The Journal of Sociology of the University of Nariño adheres to best practices in scientific publishing aimed at ensuring academic integrity, editorial transparency, and the quality of its content, in accordance with international standards for scientific publishing (COPE).
Originality
Authors must ensure that manuscripts are original, unpublished, and not currently under review by another journal.
Plagiarism
The journal rejects any form of plagiarism, falsification, or misuse of information. Manuscripts may be subjected to similarity detection tools.
Conflicts of Interest

Retractions
