ABSTRACT

A diversity of approaches, methods and procedures have been used to teach the disciplines of knowledge. One of these approaches is Reflective Teaching. The purpose of this article is to familiarize and to motivate teachers to incorporate and implement this approach in their teaching methodology. After doing a brief literature review of the use of this approach in the field of Teacher Education, both in the preparation of new teachers and in teacher development of in-service teachers, I refer to the origin and to some definitions of reflection and reflective teaching. Finally, the reflective cycle proposed by Barlett (1990) is presented so that teachers can put it into practice based on a series of questions, especially selected for each one of the stages of the model.
