LA INVESTIGACIÓN EN EL APRENDIZAJE Y LA ENSEÑANZA DEL INGLÉS COMO LENGUA EXTRANJERA

Resumen

ABSTRACT

In every scientific field, research should be geared to the production of knowledge and to the progress of science. In this paper the author presents a research agenda about the learning and teaching of English as a foreign language (EFL) in order to generate one or more theories that serve to explain this process and to provide possible solutions to the real problems of EFL in the Colombian educational system. The proposal refers to the importance of research, the research approach and context, and the nature of the EFL learning and teaching process. Then some areas and topics of research are highlighted, next the relationship between research and educational policies is explained, and finally some realities and limitations of conducting research in the Colombian educational system are pinpointed. 

RESUMEN

La investigación en cualquier disciplina debe contribuir a la creación de conocimiento y al avance de la ciencia. En este contexto, el presente artículo sustenta y propone una agenda de investigación sobre el proceso de aprendizaje y enseñanza del inglés como lengua extranjera (ILE) con el fin de contribuir a la conformación de una o mas teorías que expliquen este Proceso y a la posible solución de problemas actuales y reales que existen en el sistema educativo colombiano con relación a dicho proceso. La propuesta incluye aspectos relacionados con la investigación y su importancia, enfoque y contexto de la misma y naturaleza del proceso de aprendizaje y enseñanza del ILE. A continuación se propone unas áreas y tópicos de investigación, luego se establece la relación entre la investigación y las políticas educativas, y finalmente, se indican algunas realidades y limitaciones de la investigación en nuestro sistema educativo.
