About the Journal
Academic specialized journal of the Grupo de Investigación en Ciencias del Lenguaje, GICIL [Language Sciences Research Group], belonging to the Department of Linguistics and Languages of the University of Nariño in Pasto, Nariño, Colombia. Founded and edited in the area of Linguistics and Spanish by Magíster Freddy Solarte Ruano between 1986 and 1992, and subsequently edited under the direction of Professors Edmundo Calvache López (1995 and 2001), Pilar Londoño Martínez (2004), and Jesús Alirio Bastidas A. (2002 - present).

Academic specialized journal of the Grupo de Investigación en Ciencias del Lenguaje, GICIL [Language Sciences Research Group], belonging to the Department of Linguistics and Languages of the University of Nariño in Pasto, Nariño, Colombia. Founded and edited in the area of Linguistics and Spanish by Magíster Freddy Solarte Ruano between 1986 and 1992, and subsequently edited under the direction of Professors Edmundo Calvache López (1995 and 2001), Pilar Londoño Martínez (2004), and Jesús Alirio Bastidas A. (2002 - present).
Published with the aim of "keeping a record of academic and scientific information pertaning the fields of the spanish and foreign languages". In relation to this, several practical and theoretical articles, along with literary and historical ones, have been accepted.
Currently, the journal primarily publishes articles resulting from research in the fields of linguistics and literature, both in native Colombian languages and in foreign languages.
The journal was published annually until 1995. After a six-year hiatus for various reasons, it resumed annual publication in 2001 with the participation of the regional, national, and international academic community. Today, the journal is in the process of being indexed by MINCIENCIAS.
