Editorial Policies
The journal Hechos y Proyecciones del Lenguaje is the official publication of the Language Sciences Research Group (GICIL), affiliated with the Department of Linguistics and Languages at the University of Nariño (Colombia). Founded in 1986, it publishes research and academic reflections in the fields of linguistics, native, foreign, and indigenous languages, language pedagogy, and related fields. It is published annually and operates under an open-access model, with no publication fees.
1. Focus and Scope
The journal accepts theoretical, practical, and empirical contributions related to:
Linguistics, native, foreign, and indigenous languages, applied linguistics, language teaching and learning, language pedagogy, translation, and discourse studies.
Submissions are accepted in Spanish, indigenous languages, English, or French.
2. Types of Manuscripts Accepted
2.1. Scientific or Technological Research Article
Presents original results from quantitative or qualitative research. It must include an abstract in Spanish, English, and French; an introduction; methodology; results; discussion; conclusions; and references.
2.2. Reflection Article
An analytical, critical, or interpretive text on a specific topic based on original sources. It includes an introduction, body, conclusions, and references. It must have a minimum of 20 references.
2.3. Review article
A synthesis and analysis of the state of the art in a field of knowledge. It includes an introduction, review, conclusions, and references. It must include a minimum of 50 bibliographic sources.
2.4. Practical Article
Presents proposals, educational contributions, or well-founded pedagogical experiences. Includes abstracts, introduction and background, proposal or experience, achievements, conclusions, and references.
2.5. Critical Book Review
Critical analysis of a recent work related to languages, linguistics, or education.
2.6. Academic Translation
Justified translations of texts relevant to the journal’s areas of focus.

3. Guidelines for Submitting Manuscripts
Articles must be submitted via OJS:

Formal requirements:
* Minimum length: 10 pages; maximum length: 20 pages.
* Reviews: 3 to 5 pages.
* Word document, 1.5 line spacing, 12-point font, 1-inch margins.
* Title in Spanish and English.
* Summary in Spanish, abstract in English, and summary in French (150 to 200 words).
* Keywords selected from international thesauri.
* Original and unpublished manuscript.
* Do not include authors’ names within the article.
* Attach in a separate file your institutional affiliation, email address, ORCID, and a biography of no more than 30 words.
* Current APA citation style.
* Minimal use of footnotes.
* All manuscripts must be run through a plagiarism detection system prior to submission. The Editorial Board will also verify originality.
If the article is derived from a thesis, research project, or presentation, the name of the institution or event, date, and location must be mentioned
4. Declaration of Originality and Editorial Ethics
The authors declare that the article is original, is not under simultaneous review, and that all sources are properly cited. The journal adheres to international ethical standards for scientific publications.

6. Initial Editorial Review
Verification of thematic relevance and compliance with guidelines. If necessary, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for initial revisions.
7. Double-blind Review
The manuscript will be sent to two reviewers who are members of the Scientific Committee or external peers.
8. Review Outcomes
Each reviewer will issue a recommendation: approved, publishable with revisions, or not approved. Authors will receive the result along with comments, and if changes are required, they will have a maximum of one month to submit them.
9. Final Edits
The Editorial Board may make changes to improve style or clarity. If substantive changes are required, the author will be consulted.
10. Publication and Access
The journal is open access and does not charge article processing charges (APCs) or processing fees. Accepted articles are published in the corresponding annual issue.
