Abstract

The Twentieth-Century Latin American literature is full of stars: Borges, Cortázar, Rulfo, Garcia Marquez, Vargas Llosa, among others. However, Felisberto Hernandez (1902-1964) is yet a writer from whom little is known, at least among those readers outside of the academic world. In this article I try to incorporate Hernandez’s narrative to the intricate world of the Fantasy Literature, i.e., I try to locate some stories of the Uruguayan writer, and in that sense unravel some of their characteristics to connect them with the literary genre founded by Edgar Allan Poe.
