About citizenship categories, civic participation and democracy there are many variants, one of which is communitary citizenship that arises from community actors and generate another way to know, not only those who give the books, manuals or standards; but also is formed through historical memory and cultural memory and everyday experience.
In Colombia, a benchmark of Communitary Citizenship, is one built by indigenous peoples, that did activities for the universal exercise of citizenship, including the election of their representatives or their local and regional dignitaries, but, has aspects that make a difference to others citizens like the fact that: “ for the definition of a candidate for mayor, precede assemblies that collectively define the development plan that must run in the new period “ However, this form of indigenous democracy, not limited in its claim to the ethnic component and privilege and favorability of their interests are also recognized part of a nation and a country in which the model behind violates the vast majority of the population.
