Abstract

The present text is about the most cited epistle, but little read, produced by the great talent of the Father of the Nation; precisely two hundred years ago, on Wednesday September 6, 1815 in the city of Kingston, capital of the island of Jamaica, then English possession, today independent republic, the defeated, troubled and desperate General Simon José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar y Palacios of Aguirre Ponte Andrade y Blanco, dictated the most transcendental document of his fruitful existence to his secretary, Colonel Pedro Briceño Méndez: The Letter of Jamaica.
