Importance of the classification, cataloging, and systematization processes of bibliographic records in the public libraries of Pasto and Ipiales, Colombia

Abstract

Within the context of developing the thesis for the Master’s in Latin American Studies at the University of Nariño, titled “Information, Classification, and Cataloging Systems of Municipal Public Libraries in Pasto and Ipiales, Colombia,” it is evident that there is a need to review technical processes to validate the  availability of bibliographic material through systematized records. This article aims to highlight the  importance of the technical processes conducted within the public libraries of Pasto and Ipiales in the Department of Nariño, Colombia, facilitating search and information retrieval operations.
