Abstract

The main aim of this paper is to identify the major features regarding the Colombian macroeconomic sphere and social conditions prevailing in the current national scenario from that country. Explicitly this document is addressing main characteristics of the National Plan for Development Colombia 2010-2014 “Prosperidad para Todos”. This document is considering not only main and current Colombian social and economic conditions, but also is discussing major assumptions to the aforementioned plan and its calculated trends as well. This study points out principal challenges to be faced during the presidential period from 2010 to 2014.

Giovanni Reyes, Universidad de Pittsburgh

PhD. en Economía para el desarrollo y relaciones internacionales de la Universidad de Pittsburgh, con certificados de post-grado de las Universidades de Pennsylvania y Harvard. Ha sido Fulbright y World Bank Scholar, director del sistema económico latinoamericano y representante ante la organización internacional del café con sede en Londres; ha trabajado para la Organización de Naciones Unidas / Nueva York, PNUD, UNICEF, y el Vienna international center. Ha sido coordinador del informe de desarrollo humano de naciones unidas en venezuela; ha sido decano de la facultad de economía de la Universidad Católica de Colombia; se desempeña como profesor asociado de carrera de la Universidad Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario.
