Abstract

Introduction: Gastric carcinogenesis is a multifactorial process that leads to gastric cancer (GC). Currently, the components that influence the intricate interactions in the precancerous cascade, comprising the host, environmental factors, and the agent (Helicobacter pylori), are variable. Likewise, current evidence has enabled us to gain a more holistic understanding of each factor's performance and its role in gastric carcinogenesis within the Correa model.

Objective: To explore the most recent scientific advances in the conceptual field.

Conclusion: A model is proposed based on recent research on gastric carcinogenesis conducted in Colombian populations in recent years.
