
The main compounds in essential oil of leaves of Phyla nodiflora (L.) Greene (Orozul) were characterized. This plant is traditionally recognized for their medicinal qualities especially in the treatment of stomach and respiratory ailments. The compounds were extracted by hydrodistillation technique assisted by microwave radiation (MWHD), identified by GC-MS technique and quantified by internal standard method using n-tetradecanoic as standard. Most extracted compounds are monoterpene and sesquiterpene type.
