
Objective: To describe some psycho-social variables in health in adolescents of the 9º, 10º and 11º
degrees in the Educational Institution Bello Oriente in Medellín. Methods: A descriptive observational study of cross-sectional type was conducted; where 138 young adolescents were included with the
purpose to carry out a psycho-social analysis and their association with variables like sex and group
of age. Results: The average age was 16, 7 ± 16. 63,8% were women and 36,2% men. The 42% of
women and 50% of men have had sexual relationships. The average age for the sexual encounter 15,9 ± 1,5 in women and 12,8 ± 3,7 in men. The 77,1% of women and the 84% of men use some method of family planning. Regarding the liquor consumption, the 51,1% of women and the 74% of men consume it. Conclusion: The most important predictable variables for the liquor consumption were the genre (feminine) and having sexual relationships. The psycho-social risk in health is similar to rest of the people in Medellín. It is demonstrated that the most predisposing factors are the consumption of alcohol and/or drugs and getting older, and these expose them to a greater risk of consumption of liquor and tobacco.
