Resumen

Es un estudio sobre el pensamiento y la acción del educador Gabriel Betancur Mejía, gran ideólogo y administrador de la educación colombiana en la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Ministro de Educación Nacional en los gobiernos de los Presidentes Gustavo Rojas Pínula y Carlos Lleras Restrepo; representante de Colombia ante la UNESCO. Fundador del ICETEX, COLCIENCIAS, los Institutos de Enseñanza Media Diversificada (INEM), Los Institutos Técnicos Agrícolas (ITA), la Escuela Superior de Administración Pública (ESAP) y otros. Sus ideas sobre el Plan Quinquenal, el crédito educativo, la diversificación educativa y el fortalecimiento de la Comunidad Latinoamericana de Naciones, son de significativa importancia para el futuro de estos pueblos en crisis y en búsqueda de la unidad y la integración para alcanzar el desarrollo, el progreso y la paz en la justicia social por todos anhelada.

It is a study about the thought and action ofthe educator Gabriel Betancur Mejía, great ideologist and administrator ofColombian education in the second half ofthe twentieth century.
