History of music education at the University of Nariño

Abstract

Some decades ago the University of Nariño has been supporting the creation of musical training centers. These centers have trained instrumentalists, composers, orchestra, band and chorus, with the exercise of which managed to produce a major cultural movement for the city and the region The purpose of this research has been to restore the memory of a 68 year process that has contributed significantly to the construction of new horizons for the Music Program. Music education, as a thematic work, was approached on the basis of two topics: specific discipline, and institutionalized disciplines, that is, in articulation with the educational policies of the University. The first case showed a lack of conceptual clarity about musical and pedagogical models applied in other latitudes, and the second case showed a nonexistent relationship with institutional educational guidelines.
