Abstract

The teaching of law and the process of the education of lawyers are not well known topics nor are they studied by Colombian universities. This circumstance motivates studies like this, which belong to the history of Colombian law, with the specific goal of finding out the origins of the overt juridical insecurity which this particular field faces nowadays and the inefficient juridical education provided by an important number of educational institutions. Therefore, this essay intends to show the way followed during the colonial period and the republic in the New Granada, as regards to the teaching of law and to the process followed in the education of lawyers.
