The joy of reading. The original technique of the educator Manuel Agustín Ordóñez Bolaños

Abstract

This article is intended to highlight the life of the maestro Manuel Agustín Ordóñez Bolaños, one of the educators of Nariño, who dedicated his life to the creation of a new and original method of reading. This text is a monographic descriptive study of the life and work of this thinker; it also describes how he spent his life, and the contribution he left for future generations, a singularly pedagogical contribution, which started a journey down the road of education. The writing aims to make visible the contribution of a pedagogue who, by curious circumstances and lost years, deserved to be honored and appear in the Gallery of the most outstanding Colombian authors of the 20th century. The importance of this pedagogue in education, in Nariño and Colombia, is onsidered a master of great qualities and capabilities as a writer, through whose work whole generations of Colombians have learned to read and write. The written works, his originality, and the contributions he made to the education of the country are decisive in highlighting the consideration of this worthy master to be lifted up as an “eminent Nariñense educator”
