Mr. Jorge Buendia, the driving force behind the active school in the south of Colombia during the 20th century

This article aims to bring to light the life of Jorge Buendía Narvaez, one of the most outstanding thinkers and educators in Southern Colombia, the person who prompted the Active School. This work is a monograph and descriptive study of the life and work of this great thinker, through whose speeches it is possible to identify the essence of the contributions made to education in Nariño since the implementation of the Active School. The text describes his life and the influence of the pedagogical flow of this educator in the region, as well as the contributions he made in different fields - beyond education- in the history and culture in the South of the country. In the end, it is about the importance of this pedagogue of Nariño education, considered to be a great determinant to education in the region in the last decades of the 20th century.
